Masoor aamti(daal).


Ingredients:


1/2 cup whole masoor,2 cups of water,3 tablespoon oil,1 medium tomato,1/2 onion(medium),3-4 garlic cloves,1/4 teaspoon turmeric,1/2 tablespoon red chili powder,1/2 tablespoon garam masala,3-4 curry leaves,cumin and mustard seeds,salt to taste.


Time:30mins.


Method:
1.Pressure cook the daal by adding 2 cups of water until soft(for 4-5 whistles).
2.Finely cut onion,tomato.Crush the garlic.
3.Keep pan on medium to high heat,add oil when it becomes hot ,add mustard and cumin seed followed by curry leaves.
4.Add onion fry until tender and light pink,add garlic saute for a while.
5.Add tomato fry about 2-3 mins so that you won't see chunks.
6.Now add turmeric and red chili powder stir once and pour cooked daal.Consistency of daal is up to you.
7.Add garam masala,mix nicely,let it simmer for 5 mins.finally garnish with coriander leaves.
